An August Affair

Margot and Alexander met on their first day of college in Los Angeles. They now live in New York City and chose one of the best wedding venues in NYC - Eventi, A Kimpton Hotel for the outdoor space and staff who treated Margot "like a princess." The couple's dog is an important family member, so Eventi's pet-friendliness was crucial when looking at wedding venues in NYC.

The special day began when the NYC bride walked in to the spacious Eventi Suite for her hair and makeup preparations and was met with champagne and strawberries. Her makeup artist, bridesmaids and photographer Ben Lau, arrived shortly thereafter and began staging photos against the elegant bookshelf. The groom and his groomsmen got dressed in a nearby room and tucked downstairs for burgers and beers at lunchtime.

Photos on the veranda terrace began soon after lunch. The videographer and photographer shot the couple and entire wedding party on the rootftop with the NYC skyline in the background. Margot writes, "Everyone compliments me on the great pictures. That's all thanks to my photographer and the amazing terrace at Eventi."

Margot made the crowd laugh when reading her humorous and loving vows during the flawless ceremony in the Ventana Ballroom. As everyone was smiling, Catering Director Dino Bavaro escorted the newlyweds into a private room "to give us a moment just to ourselves," says Margot, for an intimate champagne toast for two before cocktail hour on the veranda terrace.

Guests sipped fresh watermelon martinis on the veranda terrace before the father of the bride surprised the couple with a video montage in the screening room next door. "The staff was truly caring and went beyond anything I could have ever imagined to make my day extra special," says the bride.

"Perfect" lighting set the mood in the Ventana Ballroom for dinner. "Our dinner menu was the best food our guests had ever had at a wedding," says Margot.

One of the couple's favorite moments of their wedding was opening the curtains on the ballroom's wall of windows to reveal New York City's magnificent night lights – completing the Manhattan penthouse wedding theme they wanted. The best part, however, was surprising their guests with their stunning engagement photos on the Big Screen outside the hotel.

"Overall if we were getting married in NYC all over again, or need an NYC event space for our 10 year anniversary celebration, we would undoubtedly choose Eventi, A Kimpton Hotel again over any other place."
